Timber companies like Collins Pine (one of the worst offenders) continue to spray poison into the sensitive Feather River watershed, despite devastation of the ecology and connection to cancer and other diseases in humans.
The first photo below was taken on June 6th from Highway 89 east of Canyondam, as it passes through Collins Pine owned land.
The second photo was taken exactly two months later in the same location- showing a total sterilization of the landscape that was naturally recovering after the fire… this is what they call “forest recovery.”
This practice needs to be banned NOW.
The photo at the bottom shows what we are assuming to be Glyphosate spraying along miles of Highway 36 in Tehama County. Note how the oak trees are dried out and browned in the areas that have been sprayed.
Is this reducing fire risk?
Herbicide applications can be very obvious. Whenever you see green vegetation side by side with dead vegetation, without obvious cause, it’s likely herbicide application. They are literally turning public wildlands, made healthier from fire-released nutrients, into sterilized, poisoned tree farms.
What is this doing to watersheds, climate, public health and wildlife? Government agencies (that our taxes fund!) seem to know little, and care less.
We demand an immediate halt to these practices NOW!
